Thailand is located in the heart of the ASEAN region and therefore enjoys a strategic location and outstanding connections with major countries such as China and India. Thailand is part of the ASEAN free trade zone. With an export-oriented economy, it is the second largest economy in Southeast Asia. Total goods trade between the Netherlands and Thailand reached close to €9 billion in 2025, and the Netherlands remains Thailand's largest EU investor, making the two countries important economic partners.
